Overview: Imam Reza Hospital is a general, first-class hospital and is considered one of the largest major educational and treatment centers in the country. In addition to treating patients, it serves as a hub for medical research and education, providing clinical training for students at both specialized and sub-specialized levels. Each year, several interns, residents, and trainees undergo clinical training under the supervision of department heads in various hospital divisions. Imam Reza Hospital is one of the largest public and academic hospitals in Mashhad.
Treatment Capacities: The Imam Reza Complex currently spans 187,200 square meters, has 1,838 approved beds, approximately 3,100 staff, and 200 faculty physicians. It stands as the largest active educational center and takes pride in operating under the auspices of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH). The old building of Imam Reza Hospital – Mashhad
Imam Reza Hospital, designed by Karim Taherzadeh Behzad, was built in 1933 (1312 AH) in Mashhad. The hospital is bordered to the north by Ibn Sina Street East and Imam Reza Square, to the east by Shahid Saberi Street, to the south by Bahar Street, and to the west by Daneshgah Street. The old building of this hospital, an 80-year-old structure with Iranian-Islamic and modern traditional architecture, is known for its balance, harmony, and diverse patterns, which provide comfort and peace to patients. This building was registered as a national heritage site in 2002 (under number 5958) and is currently used as the administrative section of the hospital.
