Water Parks in Tehran That Are No Longer Operating

Among the water parks in Tehran, two have permanently closed and no longer provide services. Here’s a closer look at the water parks in Tehran that have shut down.

Azadegan Water Park — One of Tehran’s Oldest Water Parks

Azadegan Water Park is one of Tehran’s oldest water parks, located in District 15. This park was exclusively for men and was inaugurated in 1998. However, it has been closed since 2014 for renovations and other changes.

The park spans an area of approximately 6,000 square meters, and its design was inspired by an open-air Canadian water park. Back when it was operational, the park was famous for its 70-meter “Death Slide,” which was the tallest water slide in Tehran. The park’s wave pools could create eight different types of waves.

Other attractions included a shallow children’s pool with a depth of 45 cm, an artificial beach, whirlpool slides, large simple and spiral slides, a wave pool, and diving boards.

Since the Azadegan Water Park was an entirely open-air facility, it was only operational during the warm seasons and could not be used during cold weather or rain. However, plans are reportedly underway to make parts of the park indoors, enabling it to be open year-round. If successful, this transformation will also allow women to access the facility.

Additional amenities of the park included a coffee shop, buffet, restaurant, swimwear store, and dedicated parking.

Pars Water Village

Pars Water Village is another water park in Tehran that no longer provides services. This complex was inaugurated in 2010 and consisted of three main sections: a VIP area, a shopping center, and a water park.

Before its closure, Pars Water Village offered a variety of facilities and services, including U-shaped and spiral slides, a space bowl slide, a wild river, a wave pool, a standard swimming pool, dry sauna, steam sauna, kindergarten, massage room, gym, snow room, Turkish bath, restaurant, various shops, and a coffee shop.

Unfortunately, on February 10, 2022, a fire broke out at Pars Water Village, causing its closure. To this day, the park remains closed.
