List of shopping centers in Shiraz
Shiraz is one of those cities that you can’t get enough of even after visiting several times. It has so many attractions with its old houses, immaculate gardens, and of course, the Hafezieh and Saadieh (the tombs of famous Persian poets Hafez and Saadi) that keep you engrossed, making a few days of travel swiftly pass by. But a trip without shopping and souvenirs lacks something, especially Shirazi souvenirs, which you must have heard described.
You might enjoy wandering in the old bazaars, filled with history, or perhaps relish exploring the modern and contemporary shopping centers. We’ve written about Shiraz shopping centers to help you plan more easily and see which ones suit your taste.
What to buy in Shiraz?
Do not hesitate for a moment; from this delightful city, you can buy various delicious items. Probably the sweet-tongued Shirazi poets indulged in these enticing delicacies, inspiring such exquisite verses.
The Mashhadi Shirazi, one of the most famous Shirazi souvenirs, includes Koloocheh (a type of pastry), rice bread, Yakhni (a type of snack), roasted almonds, and Shirazi sweets, all of which are sweeter and more appealing. Order them all in a café or confectionery and enjoy, or if you can, take some souvenirs with you.
Next, you’ll come across the distillates of Shiraz, whose flagship is the orange blossom, but do not overlook the benefits of costus, violet, and chicory. Include dried orange blossoms, lemon juice, and spices in your shopping list for non-edible items.
Many people love handicrafts and take pleasure in admiring them. Colorful Goblets, woodwork products, calligraphy, metal and copper vessels, handwoven and machine-made carpets truly excite and engage them. Apart from these, some people make the most of their free time during their travels and buy clothes, accessories, or other trifles. Now, see which shopping centers in Shiraz are available and where to find them.
1. Vakil Bazaar
Vakil Bazaar is one of Shiraz’s shopping centers
We can’t talk about Shiraz markets without mentioning Vakil Bazaar first. Shopping in Vakil is unlike any other place. It’s a market in the heart of Shiraz, constructed during the Zand dynasty, commissioned by Karim Khan Zand. Vakil Bazaar is a part of the Vakil complex, including a bathhouse, a mosque, and a water reservoir.
Unlike historical markets in some cities that have faded in prominence, Vakil Bazaar remains vibrant and active. This covered market boasts attractive architecture and has stood the test of time with its stone columns.
The various alleys of the market are filled with small stalls mostly selling carpets and fabrics. The ceilings of these alleys are adorned with domed arches covered in bricks, a sight to behold. The central crossroads of the market, with its high and beautiful ceilings, never cease to captivate the onlookers. Despite the dirt on the ground, the distance from the floor to the ceiling appears to be around 10 meters.
True, there isn’t a marble pool under the ceiling of the central crossroads, but the market is divided into four markets from this very point. Besides distillates and Mashhadi (local sweets), handwoven and machine-made carpets, and copperware are abundant in this bazaar. While you’re in the four markets, make sure to visit the delightful pastry shops where you can find Fasa rice bread, snacks, Mashhadi, and Koloocheh.
For buying carpets, rugs, colorful goblets, or visiting herbalists, head to the western alley. And don’t easily bypass the handicraft stalls. Some are enticed by the vibrant-colored fabrics. If you continue along the southern alley of Vakil Bazaar, known as the Bazaars of the Tailors, you’ll arrive at Moshir Caravanserai.

Before entering the Golestan courtyard, take a good look at its tilework and historical inscriptions.
As you step into the courtyard, you’ll notice a large octagonal pool, very pristine and elegant. Surrounding the pool are two-story rectangular buildings with lined chambers. You can sit under the orange trees and enjoy the delightful view of this serai. Then, visit the shops filled with vibrant handicrafts such as inlay work, marquetry, engraving, goblets, and calligraphy.
