Inscription of Aslak Neck in Taleghan
In the village of “Gerab,” a suburb of Taleghan, remnants from the Qajar era are visible in the form of the “Inscription of Aslak Neck,” gaining fame for its historical significance. This historical artifact is located 3 kilometers southwest of the Aslak Neck and in the foothills of the Ice Glacier and Mishechal. It appears that a person named “Ayoub Mirdaftar” ordered the construction of a canal during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar. However, the exact location where the water was supposed to be transferred via this canal is unclear. Some of the old residents of Gerab tell stories of transferring water from two springs beneath the Ice Glacier to Karaj. This led to conflicts and even casualties. Eventually, the construction of the canal was halted. Investigations around the inscription revealed the existence of the mentioned canal. Interestingly, part of the inscription reads:
Mountains Around Taleghan
One of the most magnificent natural attractions in Taleghanis its mountains, particularly the Shah-Alborz peak, standing at an elevation of over 4200 meters. Located in the highest part of the common border between Almut and Taleghan, other notable peaks include Sat, Bam, Zirnehkuh, Lashkark, Kelvan, and Kahar, with elevations ranging from 3400 to 4400 meters.
Orazan Waterfall and Village
In the village of Orazan, situated 12 kilometers from the Taleghan city, nestled in the heart of the Alborz mountain range, a beautiful and roaring phenomenon known as the “Orazan Waterfall” can be witnessed. It’s worth noting that at the entrance of the village, there is a hill with a history believed to date back over four thousand years. One unique feature of the village is a constantly flowing spring, even during dry seasons, considered sacred by the locals. Arjang Castle
A historical attraction in Taleghan is found in the village of Minaavand, dating back to the post-Islamic era. The historical structure, known as the “Arjang Castle,” is situated on a mountain of the same name, located in the southern part of the Minaavand village. It is believed that this historical castle was built in the mid-sixth century by Amir Kia Mohammad Bozorg Omid. The Arjang Castle, also known by other names such as “Deljang” and “Qaladush,” was likely one of the valuable and significant fortresses of the Ismailis in the past. Today, only a part of it remains, possibly constructed to defend against potential enemy attacks.
Imamzadeh Haroun
Near the village of Joustan in TaleghanCounty, there is a mausoleum belonging to one of the sons of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS) known as “Imamzadeh Haroun.” It appears that during the Safavid rule under Shah Abbas I and Shah Tahmasb I, orders were given for the restoration of the shrine. The white marble stone visible on the wall of the entrance corridor today is believed to have been placed during the Safavid era, covering the burial site of these esteemed descendants.
